Most calcite specimen from here are usually in the form of rosettes. The crystals sit on a solid basalt matrix. For sale is a large and impressive calcite crystal group from Kyogle, NSW. It is extremely uncommon to see specimen of this size, with such such a three dimensional nature from this now long rehabilitated old location. Most calcite specimen from here are usually in the form of rosettes. The crystals sit on a solid basalt matrix. An interesting feature of this piece is the two differing forms of calcite occurring together. There is the long transparent root beer colored ones, then there is a second generation of pseudo cubic form, with a basically clear color.( see last pic). Rare old specimen, ex Bernie Whyte collection, Dudley, Newcastle.
