For sale is a petrified wood from Chinchilla, Qld. Take note of the wonderful preservation of the tree rings and cellular structure. Most petrified wood loses these structural components during the process of petrification. This finely polished and lustrous specimen shows a wide array of colorful red, brown, and tan hues. This specimen weights a hefty 407gms, and is thick enough (see details below) to be cut into a number of attractive slices. In fossil literature there appears to be some doubt as to exactly what period these come from, so it probable best to say its is at least 30 million years old to possibly 170 million years old. Please NOTE the while sparkles on the surface, are artefacts of the camera, they are not there in reality. Excellent polish!
