For sale is a large plate of gypsum replaced gastropod fossils from Broken Cliffs, Australia. Transparent colorless gypsum has pseudomorphed these gastropod variety Toritella.  Replacement of original fossil material by gypsum, can be considered very uncommon. The size of the plate is also very uncommon, (please note, a couple of the specimens had to be re-attached during the cleaning process.) The official name of this species is Maoricoplus murrayanus, (Tate 1885)

For sale is a large plate of gypsum replaced gastropod fossils from Broken Cliffs, Australia. Transparent colorless gypsum has pseudomorphed these gastropod variety Toritella.  Replacement of original fossil material by gypsum, can be considered very uncommon. The size of the plate is also very uncommon, (please note, a couple of the specimens had to be re-attached during the cleaning process.) The official name of this species is Maoricoplus murrayanus, (Tate 1885). It is of Middle Miocene age, and comes from the Cadell Formation,  Murbko Marl Member. Please remember our prices are in Australian dollars. As you can see from the last pic of the rear of the piece, it is shot thru with gypsum replacement fossils!
