This is one very unusual tektite from Lok Yen, Yen Bei, Vietnam. There appear some striations on the external surface, I have no idea how they formed, the flat face, is highly lustrous, very unusual for any tektite, and then there is the the two large cavities in the center.

This is one very unusual tektite from Lok Yen, Yen Bei, Vietnam. There appear some striations on the external surface, I have no idea how they formed, the flat face, is highly lustrous, very unusual for any tektite, and then there is the the two large cavities in the center. Not to mention the white material lining the cavities, this would have to be a seperate minerals, what it is I have no idea. This was the only tektite like this in the 550kg that I examined, and purchase a few from! These tektites are often called “Indochinites”. This is one unique tektite. These tektites are approximately 800,000 years old! Interestingly the crator (it must be large) that these tektites resulted from has never been found!!!
