HONEY OPAL – MINION FALLS NSW

$44.00

For sale is a honey opal specimen from Minion Falls, Australia. This rather obscure location, (its been in a declared National Park, for more that 40 years, so no collecting), produced rare volcanic opal, the snow white outer rim of the specimen is white chalcedony. Collected by and from the collection of the late Norman and Jocine Robinson, Ballina. When talking to Norman about this location, he told me the opal when it is first dug is quite malleable, and hardened quite quickly when exposed to air, and the white chalcedony rim, then formed.
