FLUORITE BARYTE – HISTORIC – GERMANY

For sale is a fluorite and baryte from Germany. Interesting old piece, the original owner of this specimen (label, top left) was Professor Emanuel Kayser, (1845 – 1927) University of Marsburg, Germany. While this may not ring any bells, the fact that he was the author, of “The Textbook of Comparative Geology” (1895) which today is still a cornerstone of geology, may ring a bell. I have to comment here that the mineral I presume has been labeled baryte (greenish yellow crystal on the right middle of specimen), to me appears to actually be apatite, fluorescence and shape certainly match apatite, more so than baryte. I have not done any test (hardness etc), but to me it looks this way. There are also a couple of un-named mineral present, probably quartz, siderite and galena (?).
