This small location has produced by far the worlds finest vivid cobalt spinel. We recently had the good fortune to be able to purchase the small collection of top cobalt spinel crystals from the owner of the mine, the only one in Vietnam producing these vibrant gems. As I know from a very recent visit to Vietnam these quality specimens, which were never abundant, have now been found for a number of years now. It should be noted that gemstones cut from this unique material) rarely exceeded 1 ct in size, today, stones of half caret weight, will cost you $2000 USD, in the local market.
