For sale is a chalcopyrite in garnet skarn, from Irian Jaya, Very rarely do we see specimen from West Papua (Irian Jaya) even thou most people have heard of the Grasberg mining district. This polished slice is from the collection of the late John Bormer, and while the exact details of this particular mine do not match with the Mindat spelling, Im sure John Bormers data is the most accurate.

This polished slice is from the collection of the late John Bormer, and while the exact details of this particular mine do not match with the Mindat spelling, Im sure John Bormers data is the most accurate. Sorry but the pics are not quite accurate, the chalcpyrite is much more golden and is not as apparently scratched as the pics indicate. Attractive specimen from rare location.
