A fine stalactite of atacamite crystals on a malachite stalactite, from Mt Gunson copper-lead-zinc-bismuth mine . A very rich and fine combination specimen from the well-known Mt Gunson mine. This three dimensional stalactite, has highly lusterous crystals that shimmer and shine when the specimen is moved. The last pic show the malachite core of the specimen.
Atacamite is a secondary copper mineral that’s formed from the oxidation of copper minerals, usually in arid areas. This is a great sized and excellent material from this mine, that closed in 1985.
