For sale is a uncommon specimen of cuprian (copper) tourmaline with elbaite tourmaline on quartz, from Pariba, Brazil. This rare type of tourmaline has copper as its trace element. This element of copper is responsible for the color, this is quite uncommon with tourmaline. These could be considered the rarest and most desirable of all tourmaline’s . The quartz is basically a single healed but a bit messy crystal, with a nice highlight of a smoky quartz growing nicely on one face, The is quite a deal of tourmaline crystals scattered over this piece. The fine colored elbaite crystal is 15mm in length, and sits nicely proud on the quartz matrix. This specimen was originally purchased from Boren and King Minerals, and comes with their label.
