A large size stannite from the historic find at the Yaogangxian mine, about 10 years ago. Stannite is a rare tin, iron and copper mineral, that has only really been found in fine display sizes from this mine, and to a lesser extent Bolivia. There is a mix of stannite and arsnopyrite crystals , sitting on a large clear quartz crystal. the display face is pristine, with an area on the rear that has contacted another quartz crystal. This specimen has a particularly large stannite display area. The stannite crystals have the very distinctive yellow silver color, overlaying a dark gun metal color, quite unique. Contrasting nicely with the brightish silver arsenopyrite crystals. This a distinctive display of a rarely seen mineral, today pieces from this find are not commonly seen, especially with such well defined crystals! Ex Chris Benotic collection (Window on Creation). Please remember our prices are in Australian dollars.
