For sale is a great old (very early 1990s) garnet on quartz, from Dassu, Pakistan. A superb specimen of deep burgundy-red spessartine garnet sitting pretty on crystals of translucent quartz. The large spessartine crystal is a semi-equant dodecahedron measuring a massive 30 x 27mm. The snow white glare in some of the pics is a feldspar crystal sitting on a quartz. The garnet is fully pristine with no dings what so ever. The crystal has a fine red translucency. This is a top specimen, way nicer in person. Paul Melville aquired this from Martin Rosser in the early 1990s , and we obtained it from Paul. Please remember our prices are in Australian dollars. Try and find a better one anywhere! Interestingly the old label this comes with, from Martin Rosser, states Pyralspite with Quartz, I have never seen this word before, when I looked it up, it is “Group name for Almandine, Pyrope and Spessartine garnets.”
