A exceptionally well balanced septarian nodule from the banks of the Diamantina river in north west Qld. The almost perfect round shape and the well positioned radiating spiral, are top knotch. The calcite lining the radiating pattern, fluoresces a bring white, under U.V. light. Uncommon material, pristine condition. To quote Wikipedia, “Septarian nodules are carbonate-rich concretions containing angular cavities or cracks (septaria; sg. septarium, from the Latin septum “partition, separating element”, referring to the cracks / cavities separating polygonal blocks of hardened materials). Collected by and from the collection of Trudy and Frank Godney. As far as I am aware these are found at only two places in Australia, both in Qld.
