A large and substantial plate of gemmy and lustrous, rare pink rhodonite with bannisterite, from Broken Hill, NSW. The unique pink color accented by high luster is extremely attractive, this style of rhodonite crystal is a good deal rarer than the normal blocky deep red rhodonite crystals found in other parts of the lode. The bannisterite association while known is far from common, basically occurring with rhodonite in two cavities only, both found on the 12th level. Today specimen from this mid 1960s find, are as rare as “hens teeth”. I obtained this specimen from Bernie, about 16 years ago. Ex Bernie Williams collection (Broken Hill)
