For sale is an ultra rare example of quartz pseudomorphing apatite, from Iron Knight Opencut, Whyalla S.Aust. You could not really use the word pretty to describe this specimen, but you could say its unique, rare and fascinating! This piece was mined and identified by the doyen of the South Australian iron mines at Whyalla, Glyn Francis. Glyn wrote the definitive book on the minerals of this area. The find was made in the early 1990s and he extracted less than a handful of specimen, of this very uncommon pseudomorph. This has been my favorite specimen over the last month or so, cleaning it up and studying the crystals shape and history have been very rewarding. Ex Barry Schubert collection.
