For sale is a top phenakite specimen from Sao Miguel di Piracicaba, Brazil. Phenakite is an uncommon beryllium silicate most often found in granite pegmatites. From the most classic locality for the species. It is a typical flattened crystal with the largest crystal being 26mm wide, COMPLETELY terminated. The crystals have a distinctive tabular form, readily identifiable as from this famous locality. These came out in the early 1950s, and to this day they are still top for species, given that the great Burmese ones are virtually always a deal smaller! While not full gem there are certainly quite an area of gem material. The pics do not really do this great piece justice. The first pic captures the gemmyness of the crystals. These are species classics. Very hard to obtain in this quality and size today. Ex Paul Melville collection.
