There is a lot going on in these volcanic bombs from Mt Shadwell, Vic. There are quite a few minerals present, the pale green being olivine, with the bright darker green being chrome diopside, this location being possible the best example of chrome diopside found in Australia. The outside of the bomb, shown clearly in the third pic is the remnant of the volcanic scoria. Im sure future study of this specimen will reveal more minerals associated, I’m pretty sure the small black minerals are magnesite. A fine example of this interesting form of olivine, from Australia’s premiere location from volcanic bombs. This piece weights a hefty 310gms. Please remember our prices are in Australian dollars.
