Native lead on a garnet skarn matrix, from Garpensberg North mine, Sweden. Native lead could be considered quite rare, requiring very specific, sufphur free environment to form. I have to say I find native elements that crystallize quite fascinating, there being only a small number of elements that do this. I also have to say native lead is one of the most difficult minerals to photograph, as there is little contrast between the matrix and the mineral!
