Product Description

For sale is a lollingite/arsenopyrite on galena from Broken Hill. I have gone with the original description as on the label, while I would say it looks as if it lollingite, but its possible that the small bright layer on the top of the lollingite is actually arsenopyrite! Broken Hill arsenopyrite is very often very hard to identify, because of its unusual brightness. Without testing is impossible to tell. I have found a reference to these two minerals on the same specimen in the Australian Museum collection, and have requested a copy of the associated picture! (Result- Museum has no picture of specimen, and the cost to have one taken is way above the cost of the specimen!) The really interesting thing about this specimen is the very will formed cubic galena crystals that it sits on, good galena crystals are rare from this locality.
