For sale is a libethenite, from the type location, Libethen, Slovakia. Libethenite is a secondary copper phosphate mineral found in the oxidized zone of copper ore deposits. This classic and rare piece features great size crystals sitting in a well protected vug. This rich forest green crystal specimen,  comes with two old labels, including one from the Jim Sharpe collection. This specimen dates from the earliest find at this type location, it was in the collection of Cambridge University, for many years, it was acquired from there by the late Laurie Lawrence in 1958. from Cambridge university, it then passed to Jim Sharpe,  when the Lawrence collection was sold in 2002

These specimens are very uncommon in the market today, and libethenite’s from the type locality, with such a great provenance are ever more uncommon.
