IOLITE – HARTS RANGE

$48.00

For sale is an iolite specimen from Harts Range, N.T. Iolite (cordierite) is not at all a common mineral, actually I think the Harts Range, has produced Australia’s only collectable specimens. These were mostly collected by George Stacey, in the late 1960s. This is a little uncommon from the usual, opaque massive material, in that this has fine transparency, ( thou it has internally fracture patterns). Iolite interestingly has three color axis, which I have tried to capture in the pics. Collected by and from the collection of Paul Melville, 1994.
