For sale is an iolite specimen from Harts Range, N.T. Iolite (cordierite) is not at all a common mineral, actually I think the Harts Range, has produced Australia’s only collectable specimens. These were mostly collected by George Stacey, in the late 1960s. This is a little uncommon from the usual, opaque massive material, in that this has fine transparency, ( thou it has internally fracture patterns). Iolite interestingly has three color axis, which I have tried to capture in the pics. Collected by and from the collection of Paul Melville, 1994. One could say this is quite uncommon. Please remember out prices are in Australian dollars.
