For sale is a fulgurite from Fraser Island, Qld. Fulgurites, commonly known as “fossilized lightning”, are natural tubes, clumps, or masses of sintered, vitrified,  fused soil, sand, rock, organic debris and other sediments that sometimes form when lightning discharges into ground. A temperature of 1800 degrees Celsius is required to instantaneously melt sand and form a fulgurite (most lightning strikes have a temperature of 2500 degrees Celsius).
