An outstanding specimen from Orongo Mtns, Namibia. Featuring a great spray of foitite (var tourmaline) placed beautifully next of a pillar of single feldspar crystal, plus the feldspar has excellent display of epitaxy growth quartz. Epitaxy means that the features, (cleavage planes in this case) of the underlying feldspar, determine the orientation of the quartz growth. So as you see the pattern of the quartz crystals on the surface is very repetitive, that repetition position is the same as the cleavage directions on the underlying quartz, quite fascinating This is a very uncommon form of quartz!! Plus the rear of the feldspar has a smattering of small dravite tourmaline associated. This specimen is in pristine condition and was the most outstanding of the small selection found. We obtained this from Dallas Kemp after his recent visit to Namibia. Please remember our prices are in Australian dollars.
