This is a classic Australian specimen, “Granade” dravite tourmaline from May Downs, Mt Isa, Qld. The stepped form of the crystal is quite unique, and instantly recognizable, as coming from May Downs. There is a small amount of silver mica. The attached. The color is jet black with bright shiny crystal faces, I have had to up the contrast on the pics so as to give the many faces some definition , and not be lost in a sea of black. This is in pristine condition, save one termination (out of hundreds) having a ding. Dug by and from the collection of the late Norman and Jocine Robinson. This location is now covered by the tailing dumps of Mt Isa Mine, and will never produce these classic tourmaline’s again. This specimen is way way better in person! Complete all round, this is rare!
