For sale is a hugely impressive cummingtonite with garnet and galena, from Broken Hill, N.S.W. The specimen also features some gemmy crystals of cummingtonite, very very rare. This piece was extreamly hard to photograph, the exact color is a golden white, with massive reflection flash. The back of the specimen show rich red orange garnet crystals with a few fully gem cummingtonite scattered about, (see last pic) I have never seen cummingtonite this gemmy before. I suppose that what a lot of Broken Hill minerals are, quite astounding! I must note its very frustrating trying to find the current correct name for this mineral, its gone from cummingtonite to manganogrunerite then to clino-ferri- suinoite, with grunerite and dannemorite thrown in along the way, aaahhh!! I think we will stick with the name this material is usually called when it is seen in Broken Hill collections. This is one seriously good specimen! Ex Pam Gardiner collection, with label.
