For sale is a chalcotrichite specimen, a variety of cuprite, from Redbank, N.T. The sandy gossan matrix is shot thru with mineralised veins, the front of the piece shows sparkling red chalcotrichite crystals in lattice like structures. This is quite fascinating under some magnification. There is some pyrobitume, dark color associated. I am also pretty sure there are some other associated minerals. Unlike a lot of specimen from this mine this is quite solid and not crumbly, I got this specimen from the finder Dehne McLaughlin, about 9 years ago, he has glued the piece into the base of a plastic box, I will not take it out of there. Fascinating and uncommon specimen. This deposit was discussed in Australian Journal of Mineralogy Vol 6, No 1, June 2000, pps 3 – 7. This specimen comes with Dehne’s original label.
