For sale is an impressive chalcopyrite from the famous, but unfortunately now closed Mt Lyell mine, Queenstown, Tas. This hugely colorful specimen, is from a mine that operated for more than one hundred years, but we see few specimen here on the mainland. While not crystallized this is a fine representative piece, from this famous location. There is some matrix on the base, which I’m guessing is a rather weathered galena, but as I said its only a guess. We obtained this specimen from the collection of the late Norman and Jocine Robinson, Ballina, NSW. Please remember our prices are in Australian dollars.
