This is actually an unidentified brachiopod, from the Branxton formation, the age is from the Carboniferous period, (approx 300 million years ago) these are a little uncommon to be available in matrix. The Kitchener fossil location contain an extraordinarily rich marine fauna, preserved intact and distorted by diagenesis. To quote Brian Englands article on this location, ” Another notable feature of the fossils at Kitchener is the extreme thinness of their shells, especially in the fragile gastropods, and yet most have been preserved intact with no signs of damage”.  Collected by and from the collection of Frank and Trudy Godney.
