For sale is a bassanite pseudomorphing gypsum , from Kimba, area Sth Aust. This find of bassanite was the first time this mineral had ever been found in Australia, and was only found about 10 years ago. As the pics show the replacement of the gypsum by the bassanite is only partial, but I think this is exquisite, as it allows one to see literally the replacement process in action. The gypsum, is almost water clear and twinned. The last pic show the rear of the specimen. This is a great specimen of bassinite, particularly with the gypsum crystal form highlighting the specimen. Most often this minerals is only seen under magnification, or in a formless way, and then still very small examples. Please remember our prices are in Australian dollars. Nice, I think this is actually better in person.
