This is an old specimen of mauve axinite crystals with, fine light green actinolite crystals associated with quartz crystals, from Colebrook Hill, Tas. Featuring bladed translucent axinite crystals, and a great distribution of delicate jackstraw style actinolite crystals. On a world scale this is an uncommon axinite locality. There are a small group of bladed calcite crystals actually suspended in the straw like actinolite Quite amazing, but best seen with magnification. This specimen was mined at the latest in 1972, ex Brian Hutchinson collection, with old label.
